Addiction and Trauma: The Connection and its Consequences

The focus of this workshop is to sensitize clinicians to the impact of trauma on the addiction cycle and the person seeking to recover from substance dependence. Participants will discuss creative interventions with trauma survivors, the impact of working with this population on the clinician, and the delicate balance of addressing trauma issues as they arise in early recovery, which is inevitable.

Bio:

John F. Crowe, CRC, LMHC, is a certified rehabilitation counselor, licensed mental health counselor and board certified sexual abuse therapist with more than 28 years of experience providing services to individuals who have experienced trauma in their lives.  His particular specialization is in working with male survivors of sexual abuse and people diagnosed with PTSD with histories of addiction.   John is presently in private clinical practice in Albany, New York and is a popular speaker who has presented on trauma informed treatment at conferences throughout the United States and Canada
